CREO Films Crosses 7,200 Project Submissions from 138 Countries

In the six months since the CREO Films submission platform opened its doors, creators from 138 countries have submitted 7,241 projects — a number that puts the platform comfortably ahead of every other independent film submission ecosystem in terms of geographic reach and submission volume. The milestone was confirmed on June 27th by CREO Films' platform operations team, who noted that the pace of submissions has accelerated rather than plateaued since the January launch.
The data paints a striking picture of global filmmaking appetite. The largest cohorts of submissions have come from Nigeria (612 projects), India (547), Brazil (419), the United States (398), and the Democratic Republic of Congo (312). But perhaps more significant than volume is the diversity of formats: 38% of submissions are feature-length narratives, 29% are documentary projects, 18% are short film packages seeking series development, and the remaining 15% span experimental and hybrid formats. The CREO council reviews all submissions that clear the platform's quality threshold, which currently stands at approximately 11%.
Platform architect and Head of Product Amara Diallo said in a press briefing that the team had anticipated strong uptake from English-speaking markets but had underestimated the demand from French-speaking Africa and Latin America. "We built CREO Films knowing the world was full of stories that couldn't find a path. What we didn't fully anticipate was how many of those stories were already finished — already shot, already edited — and simply waiting for the right door." She noted that 23% of submissions arrive with completed rough cuts or first-assembly edits attached.
Of the 7,241 submissions received, 14 projects have advanced to full CREO council review, and 3 have received greenlight decisions — including Kinshasa Nights, which premiered at Sundance, and Roots of Fire, which is currently in development. The platform remains open to submissions year-round, with no submission fee and no agency representation required. CREO Films has committed to reviewing every submission that meets its technical criteria within 90 days of receipt.
